God Has Your Back

In the twists and turns of life, we can be sure that one person is always on our side. That is God. No matter what, God is on the throne and is looking out for you. Just as God has done in the past, it will be the same today. You are not forgotten and you are not alone. You are loved with an eternal love that does not wither, fade or change. That is some good news today.

God’s love for you does not change, it is eternal love. God has your back.

Surviving the Mommy Wars

Calling all moms!

Take a peek at my video and let’s vow to stop the Mommy Wars! What are the Mommy Wars? One day I heard some moms bickering and I thought to myself, “Wow this is like a Mommy War.” You know the deal, we see it everywhere. In Facebook and Twitter groups and threads, on blogs, in schools, in organizations moms one-upping each other on what their children do or what they do. These so called “experts” act as if they have all of the information but really no one has a manual on mommyhood. We are all works in progress. So many times I see women engaging in the Mommy Wars and really the best thing to do, in my opinion, is not to engage in them. Just bow out. Take a peek at my video and comment below to share your views! Have you experiencing the Mommy Wars? Let’s SURVIVE THE MOMMY WARS together!

I would love to hear from you. Share with someone who could use this and let’s spread the word!

I am so glad that you dropped by!

You are Beautiful Just as You Are

Hey ladies,

Hope your summer is going well. This is a post that came to me when I was resting in thought. I thought about how many times we as women are bombarded with messages. Some are good messages and some are not so great. We can choose to absorb these messages and internalize them or allow them to pass through. Sometimes it may not be so easy. Sometimes we may subconsciously compare ourselves to other women or to each other. We may feel as if we are not good enough or always having to strive to be more, do more, say more. However, as I was thinking about this, it also came to me that we are each like a flower. Beautiful in our own ways. Precious and treasured in our own ways. Let us not buy into the lie that we have to be x, y, or z. Let us be who we are, just as we are. You are beautiful just as you are. Embrace it today.

I would love to hear from you! How will you embrace this today or this week? Comment below and share with a friend!

The Summer of Chill

The Summer of Chill

Summer is here and with that there are a TON of activities to do. With the pressure of doing the latest and greatest I encourage you that it is OK to take some time and just underplan, underdo and rest, rest, rest.

In Summers past I would go here and there, filling my calendar with activities and being busy to be sure that we did not miss any of the Summer fun. While this WAS fun, it was also draining at times. Sometimes the kids did not even remember the fun that we had. In hindsight, could have definitely scaled back.

This year, I am embracing the “Summer of Chill.” I am relaxing more, saying YES to more small moments, and engaging more in home. We are watching movies, reading books, playing in the yard, enjoying stories, making memories, making simple crafts and just being us.

WE are being us in our way, and on our own time. I am loving it. And guess what?? The kids are loving it too. Today they made a cake on their own. They made popsicles and enjoyed playing with our beautiful new doggie that we adopted named Bella. They played in the backyard and had a great time. We have a lot of downtime and in addition to their Summer packets, they have been able to take time for some easy activities and hobbies.

Considering all the money we spend on energy and household expenses enjoying home is a great choice. We can still choose some great things to do outside of the home for Summer, but I encourage you to enjoy the chill moments too. It is ok, and you may be surprised…you may love it more without the run around feeling of rushing from place to place.

There are also some low cost fun things you could add to your Summer of Chill. Some examples are: Library time, park fun, easy play dates at your home or a friend’s, making food together, taking a walk, water fun, chalk, bubbles, visiting the ocean/beach, VBS,and fun free things around town. It is not that activities are to be avoided. Just avoid filling up your entire schedule running around so that there is no time to rest and enjoy the simple things. Try to have some days with nothing planned and just let it unfold.

Try it and let me know what you think! Enjoy your Summer of Chill!

A Timeless Love: You + God = Forever

How precious are His thoughts towards us…

Beaches are timeless. They remind me of God’s infinite power and his everlasting love. Know that you are loved with a love that never fails, never wanes, never ceases. God’s love encompasses, his strength holds you, his depths have no bottom. “How precious are your thoughts to me oh God! How vast is the sum of them. If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.” Psalm 139:18

His love for us endures…

In this Psalm David is talking to God. David shows an intimate exchange where his heart truly loves God. I love the Psalms because they highlight so much about David ‘s life. We can relate to David because he had so many ups and downs, and yet his heart yearned for and loved God. David shows us how in times of triumph, God is there, in times of sadness, God is there. God thinks of us. I preached this sermon called, “A Love Like No Other.”

God loves us and thinks of us. God’s love thoughts toward us number more than the sand. There’s the obvious sand we see….but there’s also the sand we don’t see. Under the water, hidden in the grass, blowing through the air. Those are times we don’t even know about…and yet our creator thinks and cares about us. Our creator LOVES us. You matter. You are important. GOD sees YOU and loves you with an everlasting love that endures.

Be encouraged tonight.

Quiet Time Affirmations for the Hurried Heart

Quiet Time Affirmations for the Hurried Heart

Hi everyone,

Spring is here and with that and Spring Break coming up many of us are feeling the burn of being drained, overworked or overburdened. Many of us go through the day- to- day struggling and tired.  Taking time for ourselves is so important. As nurturers and caregivers, we can sometimes feel the burnout long after it has begun. Running here and there can take its toll on us, leaving us feeling frustrated and even doubting ourselves.

I remember the days where I was commuting to work 106 miles one way. It was so difficult to get all of the children ready and  household chores done to my liking with such little downtime. I felt like I was failing. I remembered the words of one of my mentors. She always has a kind word, and an encouraging word. She once told me, “Remember WHO you are and WHOSE you are.” Dear sister I want to pass these words on to you. When the frustrations of the world start to weigh you down, remember WHO you are and WHOSE you are. The  burdens of the day are so tough sometimes. Remember to have grace on yourself and to deal with yourself gently. We are so hard on ourselves and are often our worst critic. Why do we do this? What does God think of us? How does God think of us? Let us reach towards that truth!

One scripture that really stands out to me and ministers to my heart when it is hurried is Psalm 4:8. “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.” NIV

I love to meditate on this because often times worry and anxiety would keep me up at night. I would be concerned about so many things. Then across my heart I would hear Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” NIV.

It is so true. We sometimes stay awake fretting about what could be or what MIGHT happen when we waste time thinking about these things, playing them over and over… and yet they are just imaginations. Thankfully most of the time, things turn out ok. And even when they do not… God gives us the grace to weather the storm. Now this is not just a pit-pat answer. I lived it time and time again. Moments where I was in anguish and did not know where to turn, God lifted me up and God lifted me out. But sometimes I had to wait out the storm and sometimes I had to ride it out. Sometimes I had to walk in the wilderness. It has been a journey for sure!

Sisters, as we go into this week I want to affirm you. I want to speak to your hurried heart and say, “You are enough. You are loved. You are blessed. You are created with purpose. God SEES YOU, and LOVES you.”

Here are some affirmations to speak/pray over yourself anytime, but especially when you feel that your heart is hurried. May the words which I created based in Biblical truths touch your soul and take root deep inside. May your hope and heart be anchored in God, who weathers all storms.

Let us make it a priority to take out time daily to spend time with the Lord. Not religious rituals that are dry. But real connections. If you are not quite sure how to please message me and I will GLADLY share with you how to start a relationship with God that is vibrant and full of life. Blessings to you as you begin your week. Let me know which ones speak to your heart the most in the comments below!

Have a good week!

Vanessa xoxo

Affirmations for a Hurried Heart

I can cast my cares before the Lord. The Lord cares for me, and cares about how I am doing.

I am blessed of the Lord. My future is bright. I am full of purpose.

These storms are around me now, but God is with me and I am not alone. This too will pass.

I can rest knowing that God is in control. God orders my steps. The Lord is still on His throne.

When I am overwhelmed God promises that He will not leave me, nor forsake me. He will hold me steadfast in his right hand, a hand of blessing.

God’s angels are around me protecting me. I am surrounded by God’s protection.

I can rest and be refreshed by the Lord. I can take time to be with Him.

Who I am is special. I am a daughter of the King.

Nothing is a surprise to God. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and the end. He’s got me.

When negativity attempts to bring me down, God’s word builds me up. It nourishes me, it sustains me.

God is a very present help in the time of trouble.

I do not have to fear. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

When I call to the Lord, he promises that he will be there for me. He is never too busy to listen.

God loves me with a love that is eternal.

Who doesn’t like a good deal? I know that I love to find good deals. Just recently, I went into my local beauty supply for some of the beauty essentials I needed, like makeup and hair products. I got my nails done, and  I bought a new cute watch. I used to always have a watch, but then after the years I fell into the trap of saying all I needed was a cell phone. (Um, no.) I realized it is so much easier to look at your watch then having to track down my phone in my purse, or have to dig out of my pocket, swipe unlock, enter the code…. all to read the time. I decided that this year, I would definitely buy a cute watch and I did. It has made my life easier for sure! There is link to some pretty watches for Spring! I am spending more time in caring for my hair. As a busy lady with five children and a full-time teaching job outside the home, It felt good to have some new products to use on my hair. (Watch for another post on how I share about how I grew my hair out from one inch in 2010 to all the way down my back.)
